How do I show my opening hours (including exceptions on holidays)?

You fill in your opening hours once in the General options. After that, you place them on your contact page or in the footer using a shortcode. Are you closing for Christmas or do you have a late-night shopping event? You can also fill that in at that location.

In short

  • Go to General options → Opening hours and turn Enable opening hours on.
  • Fill in the times for each day, or set the day to Closed.
  • Show the table with [opening hours] in a Text block or footer widget.
  • For exceptional days, such as holidays, fill them in under Custom opening hours.

Step 1: Go to General options → Opening hours

Click on General options and at the top click the button Opening hours.

Step 2: Turn on Enable opening hours

Turn Enable opening hours on. Only then will the fields appear, and only then will the shortcodes work on your website. If this switch is off, you will see the shortcode as text or nothing at all.

Step 3: Fill in the days

Under Opening hours, add a line for each day. Choose the day under Regarding and fill in From and To. Add all seven days, including the days you are closed. A day that is missing will not appear in the table.

Closed and late-night shopping

  • If you are closed that day, turn Closed on. Your website will then display ‘Closed’.
  • If you are open again in the evening, turn Late-night shopping on and fill in From late-night shopping and To late-night shopping. The table will then show two times, for example, ’09:00 – 17:30 / 19:00 – 21:00′.

Click on Update.

Step 4: Place the table on your site

Place the shortcode [opening hours] in a Text block or a widget in the footer. A list of all days will appear on your website. Today is bold, with a green or red dot indicating whether you are currently open. If you do not want that dot, use [opening hours show_open_status="false"].

How to place a shortcode in a text, you can read in your phone number, address, or the date automatically in a text. You can choose a place in the footer in adjusting the footer.

Exceptional opening hours (holidays, vacation)

Under the fixed times, there is Custom opening hours. Next to the field, it says: ‘If desired, dates can be added below when the business has custom opening hours.’ Add a line for each exceptional day:

  • Choose the Date.
  • If you are closed, turn Closed on.
  • If you have different times, fill in From and To.

You can fill in exceptional days well in advance. In the week itself, they will replace the fixed times for that day in the table. After that, the table will automatically revert to your fixed times. Occasionally clean up old dates.

Tip: are you closed for a longer period, for example during the summer vacation? Then also place a notice at the top of your website. Read a notice at the top of your website.

The green or red dot

Do you want to only show whether you are currently open, for example in your menu or top bar? For that, there are [openstatus] (dot with text) and [open_indicator] (just the dot). Read show whether you are currently open.

Having trouble?

  • You see the shortcode as text, or nothing at all. Enable opening hours is off. Turn it on and click Update.
  • A day is missing in the table. That day has no line. Add it, possibly with Closed on.
  • An exceptional day is not yet there. Exceptional days only appear in the week itself.
  • The times do not match what you filled in. Clear your website’s cache or refresh the page.
